MY GAMES

Role: Product Owner, Narrative Designer, UI/UX Designer
Tools: Unity, Meta Quest VR, Physiology Engine

The Game:
A PC/VR medical training simulator, capable of hosting customizable training session for up to 3 VR players, anywhere in the world. Utilizes a clinically validated physiology engine to create lifelike responsive patients.

Created with VirtualiSurg and Draeger.

Core Contributions:

  • Product Owner - Managed the development lifecycle of the project.

  • Narrative Design - Collaborated with top doctors for clinical accuracy.

  • UX/UI Designer - Developed feature docs and interfaces.

Major Challenges:

SimLabs takes a daring approach to medical simulation by attempting to create a completely open-ended training experience, where the PC instructor controls the training environment for VR users.
Ensuring each training module felt open required extensive modular design, effectively building an ecosystem of medical actions that could be used to create new cases all their own.

Role: Sole Creator

Tools: Twine Harlowe

The Game:
A simple life-sim game across 7 years in which players are stuck in a prisoners dilemma with two NPC characters. Play a story across 7 years in which your decisions affect the moral compass of others.

Major Challenges:

This project was written in Harlowe, a pass by value language for Twine. This made yearly progression of the story, and handling of the many world variables, a difficult thing to track and maintain. However, keeping the systems simple allowed me to instead focus on interplay between them. This allowed the coding to be easier, the systems to be more elegant, and the impacts on gameplay to feel exponential.

I plan to regularly update Winds of Fortune.

Role: Game Designer, 3D Modeler, Level Designer, Project Manager

Tools: Roblox Studio, Lua

The Game:
A simple tycoon project for CreationCamp's live stream community, created during our first game jam event.

Core Contributions:

  • 3D Modeling - Created medieval and sci-fi asset packs

  • Tech Art - Created particle systems

  • Game Design - Balanced game economy for long term play

Major Challenges:

This project was effectively my first attempt at a 'live-service' approach. Since this project was intended to be a through-line for all our streams, we could only make gradual progress on it while we developed other game jams. Our solution for this was to establish this environment as a 'hub-world' with expensive milestone purchases that could 'unlock' the other game jams.

My Writing

MY WRITING

Mushroom Background 2.png

Go somewhere new, I hope that you do.  Wherever you wander, I'll wander with you.

Load up your pack and tie up your shoes. Let’s go ‘til we're certain we've seen the world through.

Go somewhere new, I hope that you do. Wherever you roam, I'll be roaming there too.

Let's trek through a desert or board with a crew, or climb up a mountain to take in the view.

Go somewhere new, I hope that you do. From fields that are green to skies that are blue.

Let's take to the rivers inside a canoe, or travel a forest of poplar and yew.

Go somewhere new, I hope that you do. Whatever adventure you want to pursue.

I've got us a map, you make us a route. So join me and journey, to go somewhere new.

The following are select sections from my novel, which tells a non-linear fantasy story through short poems and moments in time. I encourage you to explore the poems as an adventurer would.

Rakenthia

Have you quenched your thirst yet? Your unrelenting drive?

If not then you have got to go to where the mighty thrive.

A home for every hero, no matter what their size

If adventure is your life, prepare to feel alive.

The Shield Isles

The grass is seldom greener. The skies are seldom blue.

Here the Isles beckon as they seek to welcome you.

The water whispers sweetly and roars in mighty tides,

It cries to all the brave and goads the daring few to dive.

Market Town

Listen for the lunchtime bell,

The people ‘round here know it well.

They stop their job and wolf their food

And find another task to do.

Lookout for the lunchtime rush

Cause it'll snatch and sweep you up

As people move, with single mind,

To earn each dollar they can find.

Live for every lunchtime break,

And make the choice to push and take

Another quest, a little more,

To reach an even higher floor.

Listen for the lunchtime bell.

Know your jobs, and do them well.

Race your rats and track your time.

Welcome to the working grind.

Cherry Wood

Far away a figure stood

In the dark of Cherry Wood.

Never did I wander near,

For evil things still linger here.

The trees are red, the snow is white.

The moon is seldom seen at night.

I tell you there is nothing good

In the dark of Cherry Wood.

Arcer

Chock-full of cops and criminals,

The city sleeps. Within its walls

Are schemes and secrets in pursuit

To leave the bank vaults destitute.

And to the keen detective's eye,

The scheme unfolds, while line by line

A notebook fills till quitting time,

When robbers once again supply,

The case to crack, the riddle's key,

To Sherlock's solving mysteries.

Then once again the city sleeps,

To wake anew, and then repeat.

Rituals

Fetch the trinkets, clean the tools,

Prep the altar, read the rules,

Get it right or suffer dear

For evil things still linger here.

Burn the incense, speak the phrase,

Light the mound and watch the blaze.

Do not let them smell your fear,

For evil things still linger here.

Misty Molly

Myra murdered Misty Molly

Early Monday morning

It fit that rain was falling

When she shot her without warning

Myra made her message, meant for

Mobsters near and far:

Beware the mage named Myra,

And her mirrors most bizarre.

She ran through raging raindrops

As she fled from Arcer's gate.

She should have checked on Molly

But Miss Moonstone couldn't wait.

And there the mobster's boss was found

Still dying in dismay.

But Misty Molly'd come around,

Another rainy day.

Ferngulch

Can you hear it murmur? There's something in the air.

In every drifting maple leaf, there's something special there.

A place to simply wander, if you are one to roam,

Or if you'd rather stay inside, a hearth, a heart, and home.

Vastel

Shiver if you fancy, but hurry as you do

Lest the things that linger here fancy meeting you.

Go quickly and stay quiet. Continue on your way.

The night is long but carry on and pray you see the day.

Festival Street

Bursting forth with bustling feet

Is how we find old Festival Street.

A tiny road in a tiny town

Lush with lively living sounds.

Clothes hang high above to dry

While crystals shine across the sky,

The air is cool and crisp and new

And wind chimes ring to welcome you.

Bursting forth with bustling feet

That's how we find old Festival Street.

Spilling forth with laughing voices

Cheering, clapping, happy noises.

Children chase each other tired.

Shuffling seniors long retired.

Few are days completely complete

Without a trip to Festival Street.

The Barter Beast

A giant creature, plump and round

And fuzzy, furred and fleeced

With many arms, and little charms

And drool that's thick as grease

And in the woods, they sell their goods

From west to south southeast

So come commerce and lose your purse

To wily barter beasts

A Second Spell

Myra knows one spell

Though she knows it rather well

I strain to see the rationale

While sitting in this cell.

A heal would be idyllic.

A teleport sublime.

I'd rather you do something else

Than make a mirror's shine.

Myra says it's perfect

"Reflection is the key".

I'd have to beg to differ

When the threats reflect to me.

So maybe Myra Moonstone

If we make it through this hell

Perhaps you might consider

Picking up a second spell.

The Vacancy

The Vacancy is open.

It's empty and it's clean.

There is no sky, nor is there ground,

And nothing in between.

There's nothing to be witnessed,

There's nothing to be heard.

There's nothing to the point it seems

That nothing is absurd.

It eats the space around it,

It grows a bit each time.

The Vacancy is nothing,

And nothing is sublime.

Buy Yourself a Life

Buy yourself a life, they sell the gimmicks readily.

If you've got the cash to spend my friend then that's your remedy,

A cure-all for the pain of being plain and unremarkable.

The secret's hidden here, beneath the awning of a market stall.

That’s the trick, the pay to win, the spin-the-wheel, the skinner box.

The game design comes creeping in, it starts with the progression blocks.

The grind becomes implausible, the loot is just a stupid dream.

The gold in-game? It hasn’t meant a thing since 2023.

It's crystals now, you haven't heard? It's one for every 1000 gold,

The system’s fine, besides, there's other raids to grind if this grows old.

After all, your friends are here, you haven't got a place to go!

So check the wiki, do the math, and give the dice another throw.

So come and buy yourself a life, there's armor sets for every style.

Pull those bootstraps to the sky and try to give a winning smile.

Life is short, so hop in queue, the player base is strong and stable.

We've got the market in a hold, with cash that flows beneath a table.

Go Somewhere New

I hope that you do

My Artwork

MY ARTWORK

2D Animation

Over the course of a summer I decided to pick up VTubing. I learned to digitally paint and rig a 2D Model of my character Mona. The 'joke' for this character is that viewers would click for a stereotypical anime girl character, only for the character to stay silent, and the hat to begin talking. Here is a short test of that model to show it's movement and animations.

Artwork and Logo Design

Here is a collection of logos I've done as part of my freelance work, and personal game projects

Character Design

Across my time as a tabletop role-player I've drawn a number of characters, some are mine, others are characters from other players at my table. The designs are original to me but inspired by the visions of those players.
